BURLESQUE: PICTURES; NEWS AND CHANGES

Some time ago Vera De Vil I had the pleasure of doing an oriental inspired shoot with Kaylin Idora while she was here from New Orelans!

You can view the whole set here.

And, speaking of New Orelans, as some of you know I will be going there this summer! Trahsy Diva live shopping, yey!

I will also visit Austin and Miami, at least. But most of all; Las Vegas! As many of you also know already that is beacuse The Itty-Bitty Tease Cabaret will be performing at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in June!

...and whilst speaking of burlesque again, the Itty-Bitty Tease has some new times ahead after Vegas and it's official today: you can read about the changes in our Bitty-blog!

But, back to the pictures; Tinker Bell also did a rather magical outdoor shoot with Kaylin, the set can be seen here.

ATELIERI'S ONE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS PHOTOGRAPHY -pt.2

Our second group shot from the Helsinki Burlesque Festival by Atelieri O.Haapala; The Itty-Bitty Tease Cabaret's wild evil tigresses. We look pretty well tamed in the picture though...

You can view all portraits on Atelieri's flickr.

MASTERS AT WORK

A video of Atelieri O.Haapala photographing the guests and performers of The Helsinki Burlesque Festival 2011. You can spot lovely Cherry Typhoon from Japan, gorgeus Alotta Boutté and my favorite Kitten On the Keys (from the US) getting their portaits taken. And also us, The Itty-Bitty Tease Cabaret!

Can't wait to see the results, as I know that the outcome is always very very good.

THE FAIREST OF THEM ALL

The Helsinki Burlesque Festival 2011 started today with the opening of Kerttu Malinens burlesque themed photo exhibition. She has been taking pictures on and off stage, backstage and on various locations for a couple of years.

The exhibition is at Jukka Male museo in Kaapeli.

Lola Vanilla and Lola Vanilla.

Tinkerbell and Tinkerbell.

Fiona and Fiona.

Me and me! From this shoot.

Fiona and I were both wearing lots of glitter and sparkle.
And she was also wearing a hat of her own design, of course. I wore a vintage gold lamé dress that I got form my grandmother. And my sparkling shoes too, may I add. Like I said, lots of sparkle.

There are so many amazing photos, so I really recommend stopping by!
The exhibition is open from 30.1 to 27.2, nine to nine daily.

The master herself.

KEEPING A GIFT FOR MYSELF

I got myself a new art deco inspired hat. Or head piece, however you like to see it. Originally I did buy it as a gift for someone else, but as soon as I left the shop I got doubtful and at home I thought - what the hell! I'll keep it!

I mean, it even has a tassel for heaven's sake!

The hat is made by Linda in Ansa and the bangs are fake, re-coloured from platinum and thus useable for me again. I had to give the ends of my hair some fresh tint too as they are so bleached they started loosing colour and going matte. We only had to colour half of the hair however, as it is growing out in the "right" colour.
(My hairdresser is an old friend of mine, Josefin, and she works at Prof downtown, in case someone's interested or want to pay her a visit or so.)
The sateen outfit is Vivien of Holloway.

CHRISTMAS AROUDN TOWN

Yesterday Ina and I went out on town for Christmas shopping and getting in the Holiday mood by visiting some of the Christmas markets and fairs in the centre. First time I've been on a carousel in winter! It was very cold so we also went in to café after café for glögg in between.

(I don't know how the f it was possible but we both happened to wear black cardigans and pink shirts. Or well, mine is actually jeany red but it's pretty close.)

SHOOT!

I've had a weekend filled with photo shoots and also managed to sneak a show in between. Now it's time to sleep a bit, phew!

First we had an shoot with the oh-so-magnificent Atelieri O.Haapala, inspired by old erotic postcards.

Jackie mesmerizes backstage -and I have rubber arms as usual.
(Backstage and set pics by Saara Salmi.)

Today (or, yesterday by now I guess) we had an amazing late night water shoot in Yrjönkadun uimahalli with amazingly talented photographer Kerttu Malinen, who we will work with some more later on too.

Afterwards. Very wet.
Camera covering very glitter-heavy eyelids.

There will be a third fabulous shoot now on Monday night, butI think I will have to let vanity loose and family win and celebrate the Indepedence evening at home with Eddi and his boys.

WHEN JUST AT HOME pt.1

Every now and then, quite often actually, I get the question weather I always dress up, what I wear when hanging around the house, do I ever wear jeans and sneakers (no, but I quite often go to work like this) , do I " always look vintage" (I hope nobody gets offended but that question amuses me a bit, as you know, I do not aim to look like anything except than just good although my inspiration may come from the old days) and so on.

It of course really depends on the day and my schedule, but if I'm not going anywhere in particular I naturally choose not to wear the most delicate clothes but go for those more durable and, most of all, comfortable pieces in my closet. I prefer those kinds of items that can easily go from leisurly dressed into being dressed. In winter for example, my vintage knitted skirt that stretches in the waist.

Here is a new favorite of mine; the black soft Vivien-dress made by my friend Olivia Rouge:
Comfy as a night gown, but easily dressed up with some lipstick and heels! (note that I asked to have mine made a bit longer, the model on this dress is shorter in the shop)

And also, note that Olivias shop can be viewed in English nowadays and she also ships worldwide without you needing to write some extra emails, just click and buy!

AT HELSINKI VINTAGE

I suppose a lot of Finnish bloggers already have or will cover this on the days to come and I'm joining the club.
So; here's what I did last Sunday:
I finished the loading of the morning ship and made a slight change of style.

Into these and some red on the lips.

And took a break from work to go to Helsinki Vintage. The fair is held twice a year at Kaapelintehdas. (I used to study painting there before I changed to graphic design. Can't believe that's ten years already!)

Eddi also came before heading out to the farm to do some stuff, you know, harvesting and such that farmers do.

And Ina too, of course. It turned into another meeting for the "photo club" as usual. Blog nerds, hehe.

Beautiful Pia getting her hair done by Pinkki Paplari. Pia hosted the event. (She plays in The Patsy Walkers and hosts a lot of our shows too. This time however, you only got to see her feet...)

Pretty Mirkka and her designs.

Deco-jewellery from Hoochie Mama Jane. The same series as these!

Some items from good ol' Ansa Vintage. My lovely newly wed friends from Vaudeville were also there but I had some problems getting decent pics so Mimi and her beautifully growing belly has to be seen some other time here...

Tamara 1965 from Tallinn, familiar from the Tallinn retro fair last spring. (We recommended them :) (Note the team-posing by the people from Fast n' Loud in the background :)

Vintage and cupcakes always seem to appear at the same events... But why not really, looks good, tastes good, so yeah!

Eddi has the coolest T-shirt in town.

Ina bought a great pair of shoes, or, boots, from Americana.

As usual, there was a lot of great stuff...
...which mostly means I end up buying nothing, as there is so much to choose from. I'm not able to. You know, can't stop for just one item, I rather just enjoy the atmosphere and browisng around. I did get something though:

A 1950's napkin holder.
¨
And a fifties umbrella holders. (That's a lot of holders for one day.)

Then I went back to the harbour and loaded and unloaded some more ships (and took sneaky pictures of myself).
And then it started raining a lot.
